Getting started with TradeCheck

TradeCheck asks trade and wholesale buyers for their ABN, purchase order and other business details, checks each ABN against the Australian Business Register (ABR), and saves the details to the Shopify order. This article covers which Shopify plans TradeCheck runs on and the setup steps in the app. Shopify plans | Shopify plan | Where buyers enter details | Can block checkout | | --------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------- | ------------------ | | Starter | Not supported | No | | Basic and other plans | Thank you and Order status pages, after they pay | No | | Plus | Inside checkout, and the Thank you and Order status pages | Yes | Shopify's Starter plan doesn't support the Thank you or Order status page blocks, so TradeCheck can't run there. Setup steps The app's Home page lists three steps under Get set up. They take about five minutes, and the third is optional. The list doesn't track which steps are done. 1. Choose what to ask for. In Settings, pick which buyers see the form and which details it asks for. See The checkout form. 2. Add the form to your checkout. In the Shopify checkout editor, add the TradeCheck Business details form block. On plans without Plus, add it to the Thank you and Order status pages. The Open checkout editor button on the Home page opens the editor. 3. Block checkout without a PO or ABN (Plus). Optional. Turn on the TradeCheck checkout rule so buyers can't pay until they enter a PO number or a valid ABN. See Checkout rules. Opening the app once Open TradeCheck from Apps in the Shopify admin at least once after installing. The first visit connects the checkout blocks to TradeCheck. Until then, the blocks show the default fields, ABN lookups fail, and buyers can't save their details. TradeCheck only opens from inside the Shopify admin. A bookmarked or copied app link shows the page Open TradeCheck from your Shopify admin, with a Go to Shopify admin button. Log in to the Shopify admin and go to Apps › TradeCheck instead. App pages The app has four pages in the Shopify admin sidebar: - Home: the setup steps, the store's connection status and Shopify plan, and a summary of the checkout form. - File storage: where PO documents are stored. See PO documents and file storage. - Blocked ABNs: ABNs your store won't accept. See Blocked ABNs. - Settings: the checkout form and the checkout rule.

Troubleshooting

This article lists the problems merchants ask about most, with what to check for each. The linked articles explain the behaviour behind each fix. Buyers don't see the form Check, in order: 1. The block is placed. In the Shopify checkout editor, the Business details form block is on the Thank you and Order status pages, or inside checkout on Plus. See Getting started. 2. The app was opened. Open TradeCheck from Apps in the Shopify admin once. Until then, the form can't reach TradeCheck. 3. Who sees the form. Settings › Step 1 may limit the form to B2B customers, tagged customers or larger orders. Guests never see the form under the B2B or tagged options. See The checkout form. 4. Fields are on. In Settings › Step 2, at least one field isn't Off. 5. The store isn't on Shopify's Starter plan. TradeCheck can't run on Starter. Every order is blocked at checkout The checkout rule is on for a store that isn't on Shopify Plus. Only Plus buyers can enter details before paying, so the rule blocks everyone else. Turn off both options in Settings › Step 3, or in Settings › Checkout › Checkout rules in the Shopify admin. See Checkout rules. A buyer paid with a blocked ABN A blocked ABN is turned away, but a Plus buyer can leave the ABN blank and pay. Turn on Require a valid ABN in Settings › Step 3. Orders saved with a blocked ABN get the TradeCheck: Blocked ABN tag. See Blocked ABNs. An order has no ABR result The ABR was unavailable when the buyer ordered, or the order came through Plus checkout and hasn't been opened yet. Open the order and press Re-verify now on the Business details card. See ABN checks and risk flags. A cancelled ABN got through the checkout rule The checkout rule checks that the ABN is a valid number, not that it's active. The order has the ABN cancelled flag. See Checkout rules. A buyer wants to change their details Buyers can't change details after saving them. Staff can change them with Edit details on the order page. See Order details in the Shopify admin. A page in the app shows "couldn't be loaded" Refresh the page. If it keeps happening, the merchant needs the team: pass the conversation on with the page name and the error message. Checkout rule couldn't be loaded: after a TradeCheck update, approve its new permissions in the Shopify admin first, then refresh. PO upload or download problems See PO documents and file storage.
